Chijioke’s “Our Love”: A Fresh, Healing Afrobeat/RnB Love Song
Chijioke, the Afrobeat/RnB artist from The Gambia, is making waves with his latest track, “Our Love.” Described as positive, healing, and fresh, the song delves into the emotion of love, offering a soothing and uplifting experience.
The Story Behind “Our Love”
The creation of “Our Love” was serendipitous. Initially working on another track for his project “Under the Mango Tree,” inspiration struck unexpectedly. “I had just written the first verse and wasn’t prepared to record. But when I played the tune to my producer, he said, ‘We are recording this song.’ I wrote the lyrics on the spot and created the rest while recording,” Chijioke shares.
Emotional Processing Through Music
For Chijioke, writing “Our Love” was a profound journey. “The song isn’t just about me; I was just the channel for the story. It felt good to record my feelings,” he says. This highlighted the therapeutic power of music, allowing him to process his emotions deeply.
The lyrics of “Our Love” beautifully resonate with the theme of love: “Carry me go high, no be lie. Just tell me how it feels, I have stopped running since you came my way. I hope our love is true. Your message dey keep me up, and your smile dey lift when I’m lonely.” These words reflect the powerful and uplifting nature of love that Chijioke aims to convey, encapsulating the joy and support found in a loving relationship.
